Update on security screening for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGS)
An announcement was made by Transport Minister Vaile on liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs), advising that Australia was introducing new security measures for the hand carriage of LAGs on aircraft flying to and from Australia, consistent with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) recommended guidelines issued on 1 December 2006. This was in response to the terrorist plot prevented in the UK in August 2006. The date for implementation of the new arrangements in Australia is 31 March 2007.
