Pre–election advocacy and communications strategy

The tourism industry pre-election advocacy and communications strategy is about to get underway, and will be involve:

  1. Identification of key elements of industry 'message'
  2. Development of stakeholder list and engagement plan
  3. Preparation of collateral for engagement with key stakeholders
  4. Co-ordination and conduct of engagement with key stakeholders
  5. Monitoring and recording outcome of meetings.
  6. Development and implementation of communication strategy
  7. Project management and administration.
  8. Pre Budget preparation 2008.

KPMG will be working with us to deliver this strategy. Members will be asked to be actively involved throughout the process.

Members Policy meeting
A members policy meeting for input into the pre-election advocacy and communications strategy is planned for Wednesday 9th May in Canberra. The meeting will be held from 1-4pm. Venue and agenda to be advised shortly.

Post Budget Forum
NTA has commissioned Chris Murphy from Econtech to provide an analysis of the 2007-08 Federal Budget and its impact on the economy and the tourism industry. This will be presented at a Forum sponsored by Diageo on 9th May in Canberra.

Bruce Baird to retire
LIBERAL MP Bruce Baird will retire from politics at the federal election after 20 years in State and Federal politics. Bruce has been an active advocate for the tourism and hospitality industry in Canberra through the Coalition’s Friends of Tourism and other forums. We wish him well.

Qantas Australian Tourism Awards
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards will be held in Canberra this year on Friday 29th February. Please put this date in your diary. State Awards have already commenced.
