The National Tourism Alliance (NTA) was formed to establish unity within the Australian Tourism and Hospitality Industry, providing a single voice to Federal Government on issues of common interest.
Membership comprises key national and state industry associations and all State Tourism Industry Councils whose NTA members represent over 45,000 or 95% of tourism businesses in Australia.

NTA is the advocate for the industry as a whole – pursuing high level engagement on national issues, common across all aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry.
As a true alliance, it brings together the weight of the industry on national policy debates and strategic planning for the industry, in the broader economic and community context.
A key role of the NTA is to facilitate industry engagement with external stakeholders and provide the vehicle for those stakeholders to communicate with the industry.

Policy Development & Dissemination – Developing credible policies and responses to key issues affecting the industry.
Research – Presenting well researched and argued policy positions and options to Governments.
Advocacy & Lobbying – Promoting key issues affecting the tourism and hospitality industry in partnership with members and other stakeholders.
Government Liaison – Liaising with key Commonwealth Departments and agencies.
Industry Liaison – Liaising with key national and state industry associations.
Events & Functions – Providing key networking opportunities for members, meetings with key politicians and managing the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Industry Partnerships – Developing and maintaining effective corporate partnerships, sponsorship and strategic alliance arrangements.

The NTA has achieved an admirable profile and level of respect in the nation’s capital since its inception. The NTA’s role in presenting Federal Government with a united industry response to the Tourism Green Paper has been viewed as a watershed, which resulted in $235m in funding for the industry over 4 years.
NTA members are also represented on the Industry Implementation and Advisory Group to develop and review the Tourism White Paper Implementation Plan.
